What Kind of Stick and Curve Does Adam Fantilli Use?

Adam Fantilli is poised to become one of the next big names in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Toronto, Ontario, and played at the University of Michigan, scoring 30 goals and 35 assists (65 points) in 36 games during the 2022-23 season.

His playmaking abilities, skating skills, and top-level hockey IQ have made him a standout even in a draft year loaded with exceptional talents. While the hockey world raves about prospects like Connor Bedard, overlooking Fantilli would be a huge mistake.

But what tool does Adam Fantilli use to help him score goals, make top-level passes, and keep control of the puck?

What Kind of Stick Does Adam Fantilli Use?

Adam Fantilli uses the BAUER AG5NT hockey stick, which is currently the lightest hockey stick on the market, weighing only 335 grams. Fantilli was spotted using a blue Bauer AG5NT stick at the Columbus Blue Jackets development camp and during his NHL games.

During his play on the Canadian World Junior Selection Camp and World Junior Championships, he used the red Bauer AG5NT hockey stick. See the image below:

See Adam Fantilli using the blue Bauer AG5NT hockey stick since being a Columbus Blue Jacket:

The Bauer AG5NT hockey stick is made with a material called BORON, which is designed to make it extremely light. The BORON material is combined with the common material in hockey sticks known as carbon fiber. This ultralight combination also improves how fast the shot release is; Bauer says it is the quickest release stick they have ever produced.

It’s not difficult to see that Adam Fantilli is using this top-of-the-line hockey stick to his advantage. He has quick hands, he is known to have top-level stick handling skills, and he uses the lightness of the AG5NT to his advantage.

He has a great shot too, although it isn’t as famous and talked about as Connor Bedard, Fantilli is highly capable of scoring goals.

What Curve Does Adam Fantilli Use?

Adam Fantilli is a left-handed shooter, and the hockey stick he used in the 2018 WJC had a P28 curve. However, one for sale today that he used in Michigan had a P92 curve.

Adam Fantilli has used both the P28 and the P92 curve in his career. In the NHL, he will likely have a custom curve created based on his interests. The P90TM is a new curve that is a combination of the P28 and P92, I wouldn’t be surprised if Adam will be using something similar to it.

The P28 Curve:

The P28 curve is a popular hockey stick curve design in more recent years because of its large toe-type curve with an open face. It’s a medium-length curve with a round toe, and a standard lie of 5. This curve design is optimized for players who prefer to shoot with their hands positioned more forward and near their body.

It helps the players get a quicker release and to improve hitting all areas of the net more effectively.

This curve is popularized by players like Connor McDavid, this curve is called similar names for various hockey brands being:

  • CCM P28
  • Bauer P28
  • Sherwood PP28
  • True TC4
  • Warrior W28

Overall, the P28 curve is designed for precision shooting, enabling players to swiftly and accurately snipe the puck into the net. With the large toe, it is also a good curve for protecting the puck to keep possession as using the open face toe helps with stick handling, like toe dragging the puck towards yourself.

The P92 Curve:

The P92 curve has an open face too and begins curving in the middle of the blade, it slowly opens more towards the tip of the blade, but not as much as the P28. It’s a great all-around curve for shooting, passing, puck control, and saucing the puck.

The P92 is one of the most popular hockey stick curves on the market. Here are the names you may see of the P92 curve by all hockey stick brands:

  • Bauer P92
  • CCM P29
  • Sher-Wood PP26/PP92
  • Warrior P03
  • TRUE TC2/TC2.5
  • Easton E3
  • STX X92

Popular hockey players that use the P92 curve are Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Brad Marchand, and Taylor Hall.

What Flex Does Adam Fantilli Use?

Adam Fantilli uses an 77-flex stick, which is assumed based on his history of using a 77-flex hockey stick. Before using 77 flex, one of his older sticks from the WJC from 2018 was an 87 flex.

Going forward in the NHL, Adam will get to test and practice different flex sticks to choose what suits his game on a regular basis.

It is important to note that when a hockey player is in the NHL they are regularly testing different flex, curves, and even whole sticks together. They also may get new sponsorships that change the brands they use.

What Color Stick Tape Does Fantilli Use?

Adam Fantilli uses white stick tape on his blade and stick knob. He also has been placing a small piece of tape at the lower end of the stick shaft more recently.

The way Adam Fantilli tapes his stick blade is that he begins the tape job from just after the heel of the blade, to completely taping around the toe, where it has to be cut using scissors.
