Sidney Crosby has firmly cemented his legacy as one of the best centers to grace the ice. “Sid the Kid” was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005 and has stayed with the team since. While establishing himself as an exceptionally skilled player, he also upholds the values of his home country, Canada, and the city he represents, Pittsburgh.
His impact goes far beyond the rink, but his personal achievement on the ice will make him one of the greats when he hangs up the skates. He has earned every award one could dream of winning including 2 Hart Trophies, 3 Pearson Awards, 2 Ross Trophies, 2 Richard Trophies and a Messier Award for leadership. Sidney Crosby has won 3 Stanley Cups in his career. His first came in 2009, his second and third came in back-to-back Stanley Cup runs in 2016 and 2017. Crosby was a pivotal player in all three Cup wins and even earned 2 Conn Smythe trophies along the way.
Stanley Cup Finals 2009: Pittsburgh Penguins vs Detroit Red Wings
This series was actually a rematch of the previous year in which Detroit took home the Stanley Cup. In a thrilling 7 games, the Penguins and Red Wings duked it out for the ever-coveted Holy Grail. Crosby, a fresh-faced 21, was relatively quiet in the series, tallying only 1 goal and 2 assists.
His only goal came as a game-winner in a pivotal Game 4 in which Pittsburgh tied the series up. Sid was essential for Pittsburgh in the run-up to the finals, leading the playoffs in goals with 15. However, the Conn Smythe was awarded to his teammate, Evgeni Malkin.

Stanley Cup Finals 2016: Pittsburgh Penguins vs San Jose Sharks
After flirting with the Cup for a few years but barely missing out, Crosby was yet again ready to go all the way in 2016. This time, a more seasoned Crosby proved to his doubters that he was not just a one hit wonder. The Sharks would not go down without a fight however, taking the series to 6 games.
Sid was actually held goalless in the Cup Finals, but he did manage to tally 4 assists, showing his ability to impact the game without having to carry the team with goals. His point total for the playoffs came to 19 (6 goals, 13 assists), which was plenty to earn him his first Conn Smythe.
Stanley Cup Finals 2017: Pittsburgh Penguins vs Nashville Predators
Not finished yet, Crosby and the Pens made their second straight run at the Cup, delivering the coveted back-to-back championships. Crosby was yet again instrumental in leading the Penguins through the playoffs and earned himself back-to-back Conn Smythes by scoring 8 goals and delivering 19 assists. When it came time for the Finals, Crosby had 1 goal and 6 assists with his lone goal coming in a Game 4 blowout by the Preds.

Sid the Kid is currently in his 17th season with the Penguins at the time of writing. In 1,050 career games, he has scored 488 goals and earned 845 assists for a total of 1,333 points. While he may have spent some decent parts of his career with injuries, he has no doubt delivered when healthy.
Just like his contemporaries who are also considered legends of their respective sports (see: Tom Brady, LeBron James), Crosby changed the face of a franchise and brought new fans into the love of the sport. His impact on hockey will ripple through the league for years, and he may yet add another Stanley Cup to his résumé.
