As a standout defenseman in the NHL, Filip Hronek of the Vancouver Canucks has gathered some attention since he recorded the hardest shot ever recorded during an NHL hockey game at 107.9 MPH. He is a solid defensive player with an offensive edge from the point.
But what tool does he use to take those crazy hard shots?
What Kind of Stick Does Filip Hronek Use?
Filip Hronek uses the CCM Jetspeed FT6 Pro with a custom heel curve. This stick is known for offering a combination of power and control, which is important in Hronek’s style of play.
The CCM Jetspeed FT6 Pro is an elite stick chosen by NHL players for a few reasons.
- Its lightweight feel at 365 grams is great for quick puck control while stick handling.
- The RR-100 blade is lightweight as well.
- Built with the Sigma STP Carbon weave, which increases the durability and strength, helping to achieve a lighter build while maintaining balance.
- Hybrid kickpoint great for a mix of quick releases for snap shots and also loading up for heavy slap shots.

What Curve Does Filip Hronek Use?
Filip Hronek uses a custom heel curve similar to the P02, famously known as the Lindstrom curve. However, Hroneks is custom is the blade design as his has a rounded toe instead of a square toe.
However, when Filip Hronek was younger he did use the square toe, meaning his curve was likely the exact P02. You could see him using this curve during the 2017 IIHF tournament when he was captain of the Czech team.
This P02 heel curve is a great option for defensemen who enjoy taking hard slap shots of the middle/heel part of the blade.
Filip Hroneks Other Hockey Stick Specs:
Stick Flex: Hronek uses a stick with a flex suited to his playing style and position. Although his stick flex isn’t listed or mentioned anywhere, defensemen often prefer a slightly stiffer flex for taking harder slap shots. A flex of around 90 is common for players in his role.
Stick Tape: Hronek doesn’t use stick tape on his blade! Crazy, right!? He uses a custom Rezztek Blade grip in black. This is a grip sticker that you stick onto the blade instead of tape. His stick knob is typically white tape that goes down the shaft of the stick about 10 inches. Sometimes he uses blue to match the Canucks colors.
Filip Hronek’s choice of stick and equipment plays a vital role in his performance on the ice. While the specifics of his preferences might be unique to him, the CCM Jetspeed FT6 Pro stick and his heel curve and flex undoubtedly help to contribute to his effectiveness as an elite NHL defenseman.
